Pedestrian Friendly Design

The new Didcot Interchange will be pedestrian-friendly with clear, step-free and easy to follow footpaths, featuring high quality signage, covered waiting areas and a large central piazza that will lead to the crossing on Station Road.

Better by Bus

The new bus station will have more bus stops making it easier for people to use local buses to get to the station and travel around the area.  There will be real-time bus information and covered waiting facilities, brighter lighting and CCTV.

Improved Car Park

The East Car Park will be rebuilt and will be wider with its own entrance and exit to reduce delays and congestion when leaving the station at peak times.  New signage, bright lighting and CCTV will improve security too.

Transforming Didcot Station is a key project in helping to boost the economy of Didcot and Oxford Science Vale - the UK’s leading centre for science, technology and innovation.

Oxfordshire County Council is working with South Oxfordshire District Council to fund and deliver this high-profile project which will be the catalyst for further regeneration of the Didcot Gateway.

For many, the railway station will be their first introduction to Oxford Science Vale so it is absolutely essential that this gateway gives a first-rate impression.

We want people arriving in Didcot to feel they are in a place that is welcoming, developing, forward thinking and open for business.  This is an exciting project that will allow Oxford Science Vale to be more strategically connected, and help make the station a transport hub for a sustainable and thriving community.

The new station interchange will be good for residents that commute and will make getting around much easier.  It will create the right impression for staff and visitors to shops and local businesses and support the business community in the Science Vale Enterprise Zone, which will in turn create many new opportunities for today’s generation and those who follow who will be the future residents of the town.
